1.Configuring Building Permit Worksheets
Purpose
Use this procedure to configure building permit worksheets.
You can configure multiple building permit worksheets as required, and configure them separately.
Prerequisites
- In order to perform this procedure, the following user right is required:
- Codefile Maintenance > Building Permits > Building Permit Worksheet Configuration
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Tools > Building Permit Worksheet > Building Permit Worksheet Configuration.
- In the Building Permit Worksheet Configuration dialog box, click Add.
- In the Configuration Details dialog box, configure the following options as required:
- Worksheet Type
- Component Name
- % of Total
- Click OK.
2.Creating Building Permit Worksheets
Purpose
Use this procedure to create building permit worksheets.
Prerequisites
- In order to perform this procedure, the following user right is required:
- Building Permit > Building Permit Worksheet
Procedure
- In PACS, open a property and expand the Mortgage & Permits panel.
- In the Building Permits section, click Add.
- In the Issue Details section of the General panel, complete the following options as required:
- Issuer
- Issued To
- Issuer Code
- Issue Date
- Issue Limit
- Issuer Ph
- Issuer XRef
- In the Location section, complete the following options as required:
- Select Residential or Commercial to define the type of property.
- Number
- Sub
- Prefix
- Street
- Suffix
- Unit Type
- Unit
- Bldg #
- Subdivision
- Plat
- Block
- Lot
- City
- Legal
- In the Required Inspections section, complete the following options as required:
- Building
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- In the Permit Details and Information sections of the Details panel, complete the following options as required, including:
- Case Name
- Project #
- Project Name
- Value
- Calculated Value
- Issuer % Complete
- Total Acreage
- Primary Zoning
- Secondary Zoning
- Click OK.
3.Importing Building Permits
Purpose
Use this procedure to update existing and import new building permits into PACS.
Prerequisites
- In order to perform this procedure, the following user right is required:
- Import > Import Building Permits
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Import > Building Permits.
- In the Import Building Permits window, click Add.
- Complete the following options as required:
- Import Type
- Worksheet Type
- Import File Path
- Click Import.

4.Exporting Building Permits
Purpose
Use this procedure to export building permits from PACS.
Prerequisites
- In order to perform this procedure, the following user right is required:
- Export > Export Building Permits
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Export > Building Permit.
- In the Building Permit Export dialog box, in the General section, complete the following options as required:
- Year
- Property Type
Note If no property type is selected, all property types are exported.
- In the Property Export section, select Property Export to perform a property export; enter the path to the export in the Export Path field.
Note The export path must be a sharable, fully qualified, UNC path.
- In the Situs Address section, select Situs Address Export to perform a situs address export; enter the path to the export in the Export Path field.
- In the Linked Owners section, select Linked Owners Export to perform a linked owners export; enter the path to the export in the Export Path field.
- In the Permit Export section, complete the following options as required:
- Permit Export
- Issued Date
- CAD Permit Status
- Export Path
Note The export path must be a sharable, fully qualified, UNC path.
- Click Export.
5.Transferring Building Permits
Purpose
Use this procedure to transfer a building permit from one property to another within PACS.
A building permit transfer may be required if, for example, a permit was mis-assigned in the building permit import file. After transferring the building permit to the correct property, PACS will continue transferring the permit to the correct property in subsequent imports involving the same permit.
Procedure
- In PACS, open the property record with the mis-assigned permit and expand the Mortgage & Permits panel.
- Select the building permit number and click Transfer in the toolbar of in the Building Permits grid.
- Select the appropriate property using the Property Search Wizard.
Note The permit record continues displaying in the Building Permit grid of the original property record. The Transferred To column indicates that the permit has been transferred. When a transferred permit is selected in the Building Permit grid, the Transfer button is disabled.
6.Setting the Primary Property on a Building Permit
Purpose
Use this procedure to designate the primary property on a building permit issued to multiple properties.
Prerequisites
- In order to perform this procedure, the following user right is required:
- Building Permit > Set Primary
Procedure
- In PACS open the building permit view and expand the Properties panel.
- In the Properties grid, select the property that you want to set as the primary property, then click the Set Primary button.
7.Displaying a Permit Issuer's Web Site
Purpose
Use this procedure to display the PACS permit in the permit issuer’s Web site.
Prerequisites
- The permit issuer’s name and URL address have been entered in PACS (Tools > Code File Maintenance > Building Permits > Building Permit Issuer).
Procedure
- In PACS, open a building permit.
- Choose Commands > Issuer Website.
8.Reports
8.1.Generating a Building Permit Worksheet Report
Purpose
Use this report to review information pertaining to building permits.
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Reports > Building Permits > Building Permit Worksheet.
- In the Building Permit Worksheet Report dialog box, complete the following fields in the Building Permit Criteria section for which you want to generate the report:
- Permit Type
- Permit Subtype
- Status Code
- Appraiser
- Permit ID
- Permit Number
- Order By
- Print Only Active Permits
- Issue Date
- Import Date
- Complete the following fields in the Property Criteria section to narrow down the report by property:
- Print Only Permits with Properties
- Print Appraisal Cards
- Abstract/Subdv
- Map ID
- Other
- In the Output Settings section, do the following:
- In the Format drop-down list, select the report output format.
- In the Filename field, enter the report file name.
- In the Description field, enter a report description.
- Click Preview to preview the report. Click Post to generate the report and create a PACS inbox item from which you can view the report.
8.2.Generating a Building Permit Report
Purpose
Use this report to review information pertaining to building permits.
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Reports > Building Permits > Building Permits.
- In the Building Permits Report dialog box, complete the following fields in the Building Permit Criteria section for which you want to generate the report:
- Permit Type
- Permit Subtype
- Status Code
- Appraiser
- Permit ID
- Permit Number
- Order By
- Print Only Active Permits
- Issue Date
- Import Date
- Complete the following fields in the Property Criteria section to narrow down the report by property:
- Print Only Permits with Properties
- Abstract/Subdv
- Map ID
- Other

Use this procedure to track building permits issued by date range and status.
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Reports > Building Permits > Audit Report.
- In the Permit Audit Report dialog box, complete the following options as required:
- Year
- Issue Date
- CAD Permit Status
- Include Inactive Permits
- Sort By
- In the Output Settings section, do the following:
- In the Format drop-down list, select the report output format.
- In the Filename field, enter the report file name.
- In the Description field, enter a report description.
- Click Preview to preview the report. Click Post to generate the report and create a PACS inbox item from which you can view the report.
8.4.Generating a Building Permit Transfer Report
Purpose
Use this procedure to track building permit transfers within a date range and according to CAD status.
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Reports > Building Permits > Transfer Report.
- In the Building Permit Transfer Report dialog box, complete the following options as required:
- Issue Date
- CAD Permit Status
- Sort By
- Include Inactive Permits
- In the Output Settings section, do the following:
- In the Format drop-down list, select the report output format.
- In the Filename field, enter the report file name.
- In the Description field, enter a report description.
- Click Preview to preview the report. Click Post to generate the report and create a PACS inbox item from which you can view the report.
9.Printing a Building Permit Import Error Report
Purpose
After the building permit import is complete, use this report to identify any data errors in the import file.
Procedure
- In PACS, choose Import > Building Permits.
- In the Import Building Permits window, right-click a completed import and select Print Errors.
- In the Output Settings section, do the following:
- In the Format drop-down list, select the report output format.
- In the Filename field, enter the report file name.
- In the Description field, enter a report description.
- Click Preview to preview the report. Click Post to generate the report and create a PACS inbox item from which you can view the report.
Result
The Building Permit Import Errors report is created and sorted by permit date.
